Cahalen’s 30+ years of nonprofit management will allow him to acclimate quickly to elevate and add to the supporters of Texans Can Academies, officials stated in a release. His main focus will be to assist in working with development directors in the five cities in which Texans Can Academies has campuses: Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston and San Antonio.

Prior to joining Texans Can Academies, Cahalen served as senior vice president of membership development with the Texas Association of Business. Cahalen also serves on the board of the Association of State Chamber Professionals and is a member of the American Society of Training and Development.

Calahen is a Tulsa, Oklahoma native and has called the Metroplex home for the past 30 years. He and his wife, Shelly, a high school special education teacher, have two children.

“I am excited to bring the Texans Can Academies story to the communities we serve and develop relationships that will benefit our students for years to come,” Cahalen said. “This organization and all the people affiliated are infectious in their enthusiasm to provide a high quality education to their students, as well as support outside the classroom to help them overcome personal obstacles to learning.”
