Letter from President and CEO Regarding Coronavirus (COVID-19)

RE: Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update

 

The global and national COVID-19 situation continues to evolve, and we are committed to keeping students, parents, and staff informed about related developments and plans for our schools. Here are the latest decisions and impacts:

 

  • In preparation for the possibility of school closure, information will be forth coming via our website (texanscan.org) regarding educational recommendations that will allow students to connect with lessons in the event schools are closed after Spring Break and learning can continue from home.
  • As a social distancing precaution, effective immediately Texans Can Academies is cancelling/postponing public meetings, events, at all schools, including UIL activities, through Spring Break and in accordance with respective school district closures.
  • For all students, be reminded to use our 24/7 Student Assistance Program crisis and counseling services (866.849.1687). You may also expect a call from your respective Student Advisor or call him/her for instructions on how to access Google Classroom immediately after Spring Break.
  • For all staff, be reminded that you may access our 24/7 Life Assistance Program which assists with work and life issues (800.538.3543). Additionally, instructional staff can expect a call from their respective principal regarding instructions for setting up Google Classroom for the delivery of instruction.
  • We will continue to assess and monitor the situation over Spring Break, and make decisions based on facts and the latest guidance, direction, and recommendations from public health authorities. Families may visit cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html regarding COVID-19 updates and necessary precautions and public health protocols.  You may also check your local Department of State Health and Human Services or County Public Health departments for the most up-to-date information about how the global pandemic is affecting our communities.
