Our TCA Houston Southwest Academy, led by Principal Gonzalez, hosted a vibrant community event on Monday, March 25, 2024. We were thrilled to welcome numerous community partners, TCA campus leaders, students, parents, staff, conservators, and TCA Board Members.
During the event, Trustee Dr. Julissa Alcantar Martinez facilitated an interactive and engaging two-way discussion, educating families about the district's vision, goals, and Lone Star Governance. Trustees La Juana Sandford and Steve Anderson actively engaged with families and students, fostering meaningful connections throughout the session. Superintendent Dr. Ponce closed the session by reminding families of the academic and social-emotional resources available to each student.

In March, Texans Can Academies is celebrating Women's History Month and the significant contributions of women and girls throughout American history, in alignment with the nation's celebration.
First observed as a weeklong celebration, the United States expanded its celebration honoring American women to a month long observance in the late 1980s. The observance coincides with International Women’s Day, which is being celebrated this year on Friday, March 8.

Texans Can Academies is actively seeking a CTE TEacher for our Oak Cliff Campus to teach Career Prep, Entrepreneurship, and Sports Marketing. At a minimum, a Bachelor's degree is required, but certification is not required. Compensation starts at $52,000 annually for individuals without certification and $60,000 for individuals who are certified. The TCA Austin campus hosted a Thanksgiving dinner giveaway for more than 40 students and families today. The turkeys were donated by CTE Advisory Board member Andrea Dicks.
Representatives from TCA DFW will be on hand to visit with potential candidates at the Red White and You Hiring Event at Gilley's Dallas, hosted by the Texas Workforce Commission. There is still time to register to attend the Fort Worth Area Hiring Event hosted by the Westcreek Campus. Administrators from both Texans Can Fort Worth locations will be on hand to interview interested candidates. We are especially in need of Paraprofessional candidates. Registration is strongly recommended, but not required. Those who register will be scheduled for an interview time.
