What is Credit by Examination?

Without Prior Instruction

Credit by Examination (CBE) with no prior instruction is a means by which high-achieving middle and high school students with above average grades and test scores may be awarded course credit(s) for a particular course by taking and passing required test(s).

With Prior Instruction

Credit by Examination (CBE) with prior instruction is a means by which students who have failed a course(s), been referred by the attendance committee, or with other special circumstances may be awarded credit(s) for a particular course by taking and passing required test(s) Credit by Examination.

For Languages Other Than English (LOTE)

Credit by Examination (CBE) for Languages Other Than English (LOTE) are World language examinations that are available for any student in grades 9-12 who is a native speaker in a foreign language, has traveled or studied in a foreign country, or is currently enrolled in a prerequisite foreign language course.
