Come celebrate our 20th Motherhood Luncheon celebration are we award outstanding members of the community. Our Lifetime Achievement honoree for 2023 is Nancy Steves. We will also be honoring one of the original members of the council, Mark Johnson, with a Legacy Award. In honor of this year being the 20th anniversary, we are introducing a new award for Teaching Excellence. This year we will be honoring Hector Roderiquez.

Lifetime Achievement Award

Nancy Steves

Brownsville-born, San Antonio-raised Nancy Marchbanks Steves is co-owner of the door manufacturer Steves & Sons, San Antonio’s oldest family-owned company. Ms. Steves’ community service extends to such organizations as the San Antonio Conservation Society, the San Antonio Fiesta Commission, and the Witte Museum. She also served twelve years as Director of the San Antonio River Authority and currently serves as a board member of the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center in Austin. She and her husband of forty-seven years, Edward, were honored by The World Affair Council as shared International Citizen of the Year.

Legacy Award

Mark Johnson

San Antonio native Mark M. Johnson, now Executive Chairman of Juris Medicus, is also a former bank executive with over five decades of experience, more than twenty years with Texas Capital. Among the many nonprofit organizations he has supported, Texans Can – San Antonio was privileged to welcome Mr. Johnson as Chairman of its Advisory Board. His work with Texans Can included a successful capital campaign and has impacted hundreds of students.
