At 15, Eddie saw his brother and sister sitting down to another meager meal. He vowed he would not let it continue any longer. He quit school and went to work.
Working in construction, Eddie lived with his uncle in San Antonio and sent money back home to Arkansas for a couple of years. One day, a coworker asked him why he wasn’t in school. The idea worked on him, and he found Texans Can.
“This was the best decision I ever made,” Eddie said. Staff and teachers made him feel cared for, and he made friends. He had time to continue working and providing for his family back home.
Eddie now is married with two children and one on the way, and he enjoys a successful career as an award-winning manager for AT&T. And he is an inspiring role model to his brother, sister, and his young cousins.
