DALLAS, Texas (July 31, 2026) – Texas Can Academies (TCA) is welcoming educators, staff, and campus leaders back as preparations begin for the 2026–2027 school year. With student enrollment continuing across all campuses, the organization is focused on creating a strong foundation for academic success through innovative instructional practices, meaningful student connections, and an enhanced retention strategy.

The new school year marks the launch of several key districtwide initiatives, including the implementation of Capturing Kids' Hearts®, an evidence-based approach that strengthens relationships, builds positive campus culture, and fosters student engagement. Texas Can Academies is also expanding its Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) initiative to strengthen college and career readiness while equipping students with the skills needed to achieve postsecondary success.

Together, these initiatives will support the organization's aggressive student retention model centered on relationship-building, student engagement, academic achievement, and creating a sense of belonging for every learner.

The 2026–2027 school year theme, The Power of Connection: Capture, Connect, and Commit, reflects Texas Can Academies' commitment to ensuring every student is known, supported, and empowered to succeed.

Professional learning for educators begins with Convocation activities across the state:

  • August 3: Convocation for Fort Worth and Dallas campuses

  • August 4–5: Districtwide Capturing Kids' Hearts® training

  • August 6: Convocation for Houston campuses

During Convocation, teachers and staff will receive curriculum updates and refinements, participate in collaborative planning, and prepare to launch the school year with a unified focus on instructional excellence and student success.

In addition to professional learning, Texas Can Academies will host a series of community engagement and enrollment events throughout the state, welcoming prospective students and families to campus. These events provide opportunities to explore academic programs, meet campus teams, learn about student support services, and complete enrollment for the upcoming school year.

Now entering its 41st year, Texas Can Academies continues its mission of providing students with a second chance to earn a high school diploma while preparing them for college, careers, military service, and life after graduation. The organization remains committed to removing barriers to education and creating pathways that empower students to reach their full potential.
