Student Support Services

Texans Can Academies’ primary goal is to maintain safe learning environments for all students and staff. To maintain the psychological and physical safety of each campus, trained staff are on each campus, including behavior threat assessment teams. Additionally, campus staff are trained in suicide prevention, trauma informed practices, psychological first aid, and restorative circles to address the mental health needs of students.

The District is also implementing a Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) Framework on each campus in which tiered, evidence-based mental and behavioral health interventions are provided to students in individualized and data driven ways. When needed, as part of the MTSS on each campus, students and their families are connected to community-based partnerships with the Student Assistance Program and/or mental health agencies in local communities surrounding each campus.
