Team Work

[Texans Can Academies-] Dallas, TX— From May 5–8, 2025, district leaders from the Curriculum & Instruction and Special Populations teams engaged in a strategic planning week to collaboratively strengthen instructional systems for the upcoming school year. The week began with team-building and leadership sessions that emphasized shifting mindsets, building trust, navigating tough decisions through clear communication, and fostering innovation and motivation across teams.

The planning focused on aligning efforts, identifying areas for growth, and enhancing the instructional experience for all students, particularly through an expanded Online Learning System (OLS) model and targeted face-to-face interventions. The sessions reinforced a continued districtwide commitment to tiered and personalized interventions to ensure that each student receives the support they need to thrive.

Key priorities included developing robust instructional supports in literacy across all content areas and refining teacher models and classroom structures to ensure individualized, high-quality instruction. The team also reviewed and aligned their work with district-wide student outcome goals that aim to increase academic growth, STAAR performance, and college, career, and military readiness (CCMR) by 2029.

In line with the district’s vision of ensuring every student receives personalized academic and social-emotional support, the planning sessions emphasized innovation, equity, and alignment with TTESS evaluation standards as the district pursues becoming a TIA (Teacher Pay for Performance) school system.

Next steps are already underway, including continued training on our Learning Management System (LMS) platform, focus groups for stakeholder input, development of TRTW-aligned literacy activities, and implementation of “Station Wednesdays” in OLS classrooms. Leaders are also preparing for executive presentations and professional development rollouts to support teachers and staff in delivering the district’s instructional vision.

Special thanks to Mrs. Banks, Mrs. Phillips, Ms. Ross, Mrs. Taylor, Mrs. Carroll, Ms. Bentacourt, Mrs. McQuire, Ms. Warner, Mrs. Chesney, and Superintendent Dr. Ponce for their intentional planning—collaboratively sharing and challenging ideas to align with TCA’s vision and plan for a strong launch to the 2025–2026 school year focused on positive student outcomes.
