DALLAS — Dallas College, Owens Corning, and the League for Innovation are celebrating the successful completion of the one-week Roofing Boot Camp held November 17–21. The program—designed to open doors to high-demand trade careers—empowered more than 18 participating students from Texans Can Academies across the Grant East, Oak Cliff, and Pleasant Grove campuses to earn their Roofing Career Network industry certification. Every participating TCA student successfully completed all required exams, demonstrating exceptional commitment while balancing school responsibilities.
This achievement reflects the strong instructional leadership of our CTE specialists — Ms. Herndon, Ms. Adeng, and Ms. Richardson — whose dedication ensured students were well-prepared each day. Special appreciation also goes to Ms. Payne, Director of CTE/CCMR, whose leadership continues to build strong teams, expand opportunities, and elevate student success.
Texans Can Academies extends a special thank you to Superintendent Dr. James Ponce for his vision and unwavering support of innovative career pathways that change lives. We also deeply appreciate our valued partners, Cars for Kids, for their commitment to our CTE/CCMR programs, and Ms. Cheryl Sutterfield-Jones for her leadership, advocacy, and long-standing support of Texans Can Academies.
“As Texans Can Academies celebrates 40 years of changing lives, this milestone demonstrates exactly what we do best—providing pathways to economic independence, real-world skills, and meaningful careers,” the TCA team shared.
