As Hispanic Heritage Month draws to a close, Texans Can reflects on the histories, cultures, and contributions of Americans whose ancestors come from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America.
Several of those same Americans are our very own students!
Texans Can boasts a student population where 68 percent of our students are Hispanic. They are proud of their heritage, their culture, their food, their music, their language, and the work ethic instilled in them by their families. When they come to Texans Can, they’re doing all they can to make themselves and their families proud. And we’re proud of them!

State Representative Ana-Maria Ramos
For Texans Can, Hispanic Heritage Month is about being proud of the success of our Hispanic students. State Representative Ana-Maria Ramos is a shining example. Against all odds, Dallas native Representative Ramos obtained her GED from Dallas Can Academy, putting her on a trajectory that would lead ultimately to an MBA from Texas Woman’s University and a Juris Doctorate from Southern Methodist University. She is a practicing attorney and, since 2019, has served proudly in the Texas House of Representatives. Among other causes, access to higher education to empower marginalized groups and working-class families has been an abiding passion for Representative Ramos. We’re proud not only that she chose Dallas Can, but also that she is so passionate about improving the lives of all Texans.
